“WordPress and logos SEO

Hey guys I’m new to the site and am currently just
using the videos and the fast start guide to see how
well this works out for me. The question I have as a
designer is if I change the header to be a logo
instead of text. How does this change the SEO of the
blog? I don’t want to miss out on anything that could
rank me higher, but I also don’t care for the plain
text either.

Thanks!”

MY COMMENTS

Hey,

That’s a really good question because we have a lot of
great designers here in BTF.

There’s two ways to answer your question.  If you’re
asking if you can change the site title in any way
then the answer is no.  That is the “H1″ tag and we
definitely need that for SEO purposes.

That tag let’s google know what your site is about and
in most cases, it’s the keyword you’re trying to rank
for as well.

Here’s how to get the best of both worlds WITHOUT
messing up your SEO efforts.

You can use a theme like “Socrates” where the site
title and site description are in the header graphic.

If you’re an awesome graphic designer, you can make a
really nice looking banner and keep everything we need
to rank high in the search engines.

“Duplicating Blogs for Similar Keywords – Help
Requested!

Hello BTFers!

I joined BTF a week ago and created my first site
this week. From out of no where I am already at #15 on
Google, and I believe I should be able to get it to
page one within 2-3 days.

My question is about creating duplicate blogs. I wrote
high quality blog posts for this keyword blog, and I
was thinking that perhaps I could spin them and create
a similar blog for a similar keyword (i.e. I am
ranking right now for “<best keyword>” and the other
keyword I’m looking at is “similar <best keyword>”.

Has anyone tried this approach? Would you recommend
creating duplicate blogs with re-purposed content, or
would google pick up on that?

Thanks!!”

MY COMMENTS

Hey boulder,

Good job on taking some action and getting rankings so
quickly.

You COULD do what you’re talking about by spinning
content and creating a new blog, but why go through
all that effort?

You already have a blog built up and it’s on topic for
the other keyword you would be going after.

Why not just create a post and name the permalink your
keyword like this:

http://yourmainkeyword.com/secondary-keyword

If you do that, you can create an authority site that
will rank for all different keywords and bring your
site more traffic.

However, if you don’t want to take that approach,
you’re fine with your idea.  Just make sure the spun
content makes sense and readable.

Good luck and let us all know what you decide.

“1st Clickbank sale…launch jacking rocks

I’m so happy today….

Got my first clickbank sale …

I tried launch jacking for an IM launch, just few days
before it was going to release.

Didnt think that i would get first page listings for
that launch.

But my site landed on 6th position of 1st page.

Didn’t give out any bonus and other free stuff for
buying through my link..

To my surprise I got 2 sales yesterday…

Also trying launch jacking for 2 IM launch more
products…

One is already ranking 1st and 2nd position for 2
different keywords.

I hope, I get more commissions out of those 2
launches..”

MY COMMENTS

Great job…  It’s always cool when someone “sees the
light”.

So let me get this straight…

You weren’t even in the top 3 websites for the launch…

You didn’t give away any bonuses or any incentive for
the visitor to buy through you…

…And you made 2 sales??

NICE.

Here’s how to make more sales on the next couple
launches you have lined up…

1) Do exactly what you did, only do MORE of it to push
your site higher…

2) Offer a bonus to buy through you.

My work here is done. Good luck on your next LJ and
report your results for us in the forum.

“What’s the best/quickest way to rank youtube ids on
google?

Backlinking? Blog posts? Creating new youtube account
with the keyword match?

Please post what has worked for you and how you did
it, thanks!!”

MY COMMENTS

Good question…

A lot of BTFer’s use the same methods to rank youtube
videos as well to get more visitors to their websites
and build their list.

The process is exactly the same for youtube videos as
it is for your BTF sites…

That’s what’s so cool about SEO… if you get the basics
down, it applies to all other areas involving SEO like
youtube videos, articles, and even in the local search
too.

For YouTube, I recommend having your keyword in your
username, video title description, video description,
and video tags.  That’s for the “on page” video
requirements.

The “off page” steps are laid out for you in the fast
start guide step-by-step…

Instead of directing links to your website, just
substitute that for your Youtube video URL.

Let us know if you need any help…

“Profile Links for Established Businesses?

I watched the awesome webinar with Jason Drohn last
week and now have 4 strong leads on local SEO work!
I’m super excited about it and can’t wait to get
started. In the webinar Jason kind of off handedly
referred to profile links getting you “delisted”. I’ve
seen this other places and dismissed it but coming
from a reputable source like Jason I started to think
is this really true?

I’ve used *resource available only to members* to get
rockin’ results on two sites and haven’t had any
problems. Has one experienced problems using profile
links? Are profile links appropriate for Doctors,
Lawyers, Chiropractors etc? Starting out in local SEO
getting someone’s site delisted would be suicide. I
guess a more probing question might be what is the
ideal link building strategy for doctors, lawyers
etc.?

Thanks,

Phil”

MY COMMENTS

Hey Phil… thanks for joining us on that webinar.  It
sounds like you got a lot out of it.  Great job
getting those leads.

I think Jason was referring to people who abuse the
system.  You have to make your link building efforts
look natural while also getting the results you want…

The way to do that is to vary your anchor text using
related keywords and not always the keyword you’re
going after.

I would say for the amount of links you build 75%
should be your main keyword and the remaining 25%
should be variations of your keyword, “click here”,
www.yourwebsite.com, etc.

Also, don’t just build only profile links. Vary that
as well with article backlinks, RSS feeds, social
bookmarks, press releases, blog comments … you get the
picture.

Stick with those principles and you’ll be fine.

“Graphic Question

Please forgive the probable simplicity of this
question, but still learning the tech stuff as we
go…

Let’s say I have a banner advertisement graphic that I
want to place in the side bar of a word press site. I
have the image in a jpeg file. I put a new text widget
in the side bar, and…….now what………… Where
does the image go, and how do I get it to link to an
affiliate site/page.

Thanks in advance for the help.”

MY COMMENTS

Hey algold,

The first thing you’re going to want to do is upload
the image in the “Media” tab inside the WordPress
Dashboard backend.

Make sure you copy down the file URL once you upload
the image.

Next when you add the text widget to your sidebar, you
need to add the file URL inside the HTML code to add
an image.

You’ll want the image to be clickable, so here’s the
html code you’ll want to paste in the text widget:

<a
href=”AFF LINK”><img
src=”WP FILE URL” width=”225″

height=”200″></a>

You can adjust the width and height to make your
picture fit right.

“Question About Domain Name

Hello all,

I apologize if this has been answered before, I did a
forum search but didn’t find anything. Does anyone
know if it’s legal to use the name of a city as part
of a domain name? For instance:
www.portlandbusinfo.com

I think it’s permissible, but just wanted to check
with some experts here.

Thanks,

Ted”

MY COMMENTS

Hey Ted,

Yes you can definitely use a city as part of your
domain name, in fact we encourage it!

It’s great for Local SEO clients and will give you a
huge advantage over the other domains that don’t have
the keyword in the URL.

What you want to stay away from is big company names
like Apple, Sony, Toshiba, Garmin, etc. that are
trademarked.

You’ll be fine using that for your local SEO efforts…

Go make some money.

Kelly

FORUM POST

“Ring the bell

Whats up guys. I havent posted a success story because
I didnt start this business to earn $500 but I guess I
will because I know how inspiring it can be.

1st site went live 4ish months ago. Its something I
did when I had no clue what I was doing. It saw some
early ranking success so I stuck with it.

Last month I had 12k page views and 7k uniques or so.
Its something I’m very proud of. I’m in the design
phase of developing an iphone app for it and also a
styles guide that I plan on selling for $7 or so. I’m
willing to bet no other person in this niche is
selling amazon products like I am! The things they
buy! I’m most proud of the “pillar post” on the home
page. I believe that is what put these visitors in the
buying mindset.

If you google cornrow styles or cornrow hairstyles,
mycornrows.com is all over the serps for exact search
phrase comp at over 20k or so. I believe making
products is the way to go but right now I’m enjoying
the amazon and adsense money.

Fast forward to now. I have about 25 sites and more
in development. Right now there are probably 5 sites
that I have sheduled posts for and I love seeing them
post everyday.

I dont even monetize my site I just launch them with
the scheduled post in belief that thats what google
likes. Since I’m working on a handful at a time, I
also have no problem with letting the sites sit as is
for a couple weeks while I focus on the ones at hand.

Today, I made 2 sales on a site that I havent even
built links on! $10 commish. I’m expecting my 1st
adsense check in the mail any day and already, my
main site is earning at a faster pace than last month.

I’m lucky enough to have a good 9 to 5 wage and I have
no bills plus I earn passive income on a rental
property and I own land. I’m not here to brag. 5 yrs
ago I was 20k in debt. A failed family business that
crushed my parents but taught me a lot. I chose to
come out of it and now I do this internet stuff for
fun.

Currently, I’m building sites and more importantly,
testing many different strategies. I can stick with
whats working but I’m not that type of guy. I use many
different resources including *resource withheld to
members* and pat but I like to test others in the
market.

Btw if you checked my hairstyles gallery, I’m the guy
with the long hair braided like avatar. I just got my
hair cut and thats me in the btf profile.

Hopefully I’ve inspired at least 1 person to stop
making excuses and take accountability. Dont just
believe everything you hear from these marketers.
Test things for yourself.

Thanks for reading.

P.s
I paid my stylist 100 bucks to come over and used my
brother photography skills to record her braiding for
the tutorials. I plan on testing if people will by
premium tutorials. The market was saturated with
youtube tutorials and google images turned me off
from this niche but I felt like I could do it better.

Look around you and you will find that you have more
resources than you think. Think outside the box.

MY COMMENTS

Thanks for sharing your amazing story.

Glad to hear when you got knocked down, ya got right
back up.

I have no doubt you’ll continue to make more and more
money because you’re not a quitter.

Congratulations on your success and many more to you,
my friend.

BTF members … what do you think about ME getting
cornrows?

… We’ll save that discussion for another day :)

Kelly

“Just got home from work and checking stats. New page
started ranking. Scroogle says I have 2,3,4,5,6 for
a highly searched term. Google only showing 4 spots
tho.

Most page visits today. Over 600 half of them uniques.
8 clicks to amazon. $5 adsense.

I guess those .edus started kicking in lol.

I love this stuff. Thanks guys.

MY COMMENTS

600 uniques a day?  Great job man.  You can do a lot
with that kind of traffic.

Keep at it… pretty soon all those numbers will start
doubling.

FORUM POST

“No time

If you can afford it, simply outsource most of it.

A good cheap place to outsource is fiverr. Get content
written, wordpress site build and links build there
all for five dollars each. I would just give the
instructions as per BTF and they will do the rest.
You should have a site up for about $50 to $60.

One thing though, make sure you check the reviews of
the people you want to hire. Read the positive and
negative feedback. I use fiverr services a lot and
there are a lot of good workers there. That way you
don’t have to do the work but still get a site up and
running.

The only thing you need to do is the research part.
Do not outsource this.

To your success,

Dax Cheng”

MY COMMENTS

Dax I agree with you 100%

If you don’t have the time, outsource what you need
the most help with or whatever is the most time
consuming.

Don’t like anything except seeing the money roll in?

Outsource it.

Today you can get things done so cheaply it’s crazy
not to.

No more excuses… it’s time to get to work, or get
OTHERS to work for you.

Best,

Kelly
